Over the past month since joining SyCara Local, I’ve spoken with many prospects and customers. I’ve even managed to find some time to attend a few conferences. I recently attended the Phoenix Digital Marketing Summit presented by TechMedia and the Global Retailing Conference presented by the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing and the University of Arizona. Each was chock-full of great speakers, terrific content and provided wonderful networking opportunities.

Even though both events had very different target audiences (the Digital Marketing Summit targeted the digital marketing professional whereas the Global Retailing Conference targeted those in the retail industry), a common topic and theme came up during both events. I couldn’t help but notice that the common theme related to those of us in the local SEO business.

Each discussed the exploding use of smartphones for shopping, which has profound impact on multi-location local search. In a recent study, 65 percent of smartphone users said their searches were “driven by a need for information on the go.”

Terry J. Lundgren, chairman, president and CEO of Macy’s said during the Global Retailing Conference that 85 percent of Macy’s customers are now using smartphones, and they have become the new “shopping buddy.”He went on to say an essential part of the “My Macy’s” strategy is getting found in local search results. Given 80 percent of local searches on mobile phones convert according to the 7th Annual Local Search Study by comScore, it’s no wonder why this is an integral part of the My Macy’s strategy and why we are focused at SyCara Local to bring you the very best local SEO platform for managing and optimizing your digital presence.
